About Widge
If this has popped up in your Last.FM playlist then you're a very lucky person! I am Widge, TypicalMoodyDJ or whatever flavour of the month name that I have decided to put my noises out under at the time of this. I started off spinning tunes at the age of 14, lured in by the original Ministry Of Sound Sessions CDs and wanting to be a budding M@W. After disappearing down a very deep house path inspired by the Classic Music Company, Paper, Pagan and Acid labels, I had a bit of a genre defining moment after hearing Danny Howells drop Paul Hester's Beautiful Day down at Bedrock. After realising the Progressive wasn't all big riffs, I became a budding Howells/Deep Dish ... but more than anything else, I was cutting my own sound. Rather than be told what was good, I've strayed from the media and will continue to plug whatever I see fit. At the moment I have been putting out alot of minimal mixes, not because it is vogue, but if you go back and check Dan Bell's Tresor mix from 2000, you'll not only notice that the minimal sound has been going strong since days of yore, but also that it joins all the dots from my musical path. A genre designed for people who refuse to conform. Viva Le Tech House! At the moment I'm moving away from Minimal mixes, if purely to explore the possibilities that Ableton has been offering me over the past year. The chance to put together all those mixes where I always thought "If only I had 4 decks, CDJs and a shed load of cash". Now I can swing from Deep House to IDM at the brush of a mouse and I'm loving it. I'm also hoping you're going to be coming to this page one day via one of my own tracks. We shall see. Anyway, for my list of current mixes, please check out www.themixingbowl.org. The top torrent site for us electric heads on the net. They also have a group on here too! Plus I can be found on MySpazz under the name Widge or Typical Moody DJ or SOMETHING. Have fun with my noises.
