About Wheatness
Wheatness is a one-man shoegaze project of Dmytro Vaskovets from Odesa, Ukraine, who started his musical journey in 2010 as a pillar of Night Dew Call, a Ukrainian dream/twee-pop band. He later became a member of multiple Ukrainian projects in various genres, ranging from free jazz to punk, ambient, and folk. As a self-producing artist, Dmytro immerses himself in every facet of Wheatness, contributing his presence on all instruments in the comfort of his home studio. The sonic canvas of Wheatness serves as a vessel for the myriad emotions drawing inspiration from personal experiences such as love, loss, and the profound impact of the ongoing war in Ukraine. The 2022 single "The Future" was released by Liky Pid Nohamy, an Odesa-based label curated by Polje aka Viktor Konstantinov. The three-piece work is a testament to Wheatness's ability to translate complex emotions into a universal language. Recorded during the war, this release captures the struggles of wartime, the urgency of the present moment, and the unwavering faith in a brighter future.
