About Weatherwood

Weatherwood, a trio from Bozeman, Montana, is a contra dance and wedding band that revels in surprises. Members Steve Marty, Lindsay Turnquist, and Tom Robison pick, pluck, strike, glide and strum tunes on fiddle, harp, guitars, hammered dulcimer, octave mandolin, mandolin, bowed psaltery and percussion. They draw on 60 years of cumulative dance-band experience to provide a sound with just the right balance of graceful and gritty, sophisticated and slap-happy. Tunes evoking a haunting, ancient beauty stand side by side with striking originals. At any moment the groove might change from slinky and sly to rowdy and rollicksome. The result is irresistible drive alongside heartfelt passion. Steve Marty performs on guitar, mandolin, and bowed psaltery, Tom Robison on fiddle and celtic harp, Lindsay Turnquist on hammered dulcimer, octave mandolin, and percussion. Their self-titled CD was released December 2008.
