About We Are Not Bears
We Are Not Bears is an indie/rock band based out of Purchase, NY. Members include James Ryan (Le Rug, Space Ghost Cowboys, Disasterpiece) on bass, William Whatley (Disasterpiece) on drums, and Kyle Pollard (Donner Party Picnic, Space Ghost Cowboys) on lead vocals and guitar. The band has become known for their heavy, rhythmically driven sound, pushed by Whatley's drumming and Ryan's complimentary bass lines. Drawing influence everywhere from D.I.Y. revolutionaries Fugazi, to Built to Spill and the mid-west indie scene, We Are Not Bears have developed a unique voice in the NYC area. After a successful summer tour in 2009, We Are Not Bears is now signed to American Buffalo Recordings, a collective involving We Are Not Bears, Trails,Time Vampire,Weird Korea, and Elemeno.
