About Wact

WACT emerged from the ashes of the PSEUDO HIPPIES. Consisting of Kris, Adam, Dan and Tom, the Pseudo's released two singles and conquered Germany with the intention of "eating their women, shagging their beer and drinking their sausages." In the summer of 1994, Canadian Dave answers a "Guitarist Wanted" advert in the Rough Trade record shop. He meets Danny and Kris over a few pints at the Lock Tavern in Camden Town and they get along famously. Over the next 15 months Wact play dozens of gigs throughout Southern England, release a single and are featured on three compilation CDs. "Down at Cafe Sol" becomes their signature song. An infectious ska/punk romp about the Mexican restaurant in Greenwich that they frequent during rehearsal breaks. Over the course of a year Kris and Dave's songwriting matures. They pen songs at a dizzing pace. The band move away from their "pop-punk" roots and embrace "power-pop". Deciding that previously recorded material no longer represent the band, Wact plan to go back into the studio. With recording scheduled for a weekend in November 1995, Wact decide to commit "Boring Art Fuck" as their new single. This song marks Kris and Dave's first songwriting collaboration. Dave penned the verses and Kris the memorable chorus. With all the excitement and high hopes, no one could have predicted the bands' demise. With just days before heading into the studio, after a particularly disastrous gig, Wact call it quits. Kris went on to form Warner Recording Artists DWEEB. You may hear bits of Wact in these songs. They released several brilliant singles and a a full length LP "Turn Me On". Dave went back to Canada after Wact split and formed TRIGGER. They released an EP in 1999 entitled "Number One Fan" and their single "Dayjob" was featured on the SNAKEBITE CITY FOUR compilation. Dave played for several years with with former KILLJOY Gene Champagne in power pop outfit JUNIOR ACHIEVER and has just released a six song EP under the moniker RAMONA . Adam played bass in RYDELL with ex- COUCH POTATOES member Dave Gamage. They released various singles and records toured Europe on several occasions. Dan still finds time to pound his skins with local London acts.
