...dubby electronic ambience with fragments of noise and musique concrete. Expansive environments of sound...radios tuned to alien frequencies...haunted static floating through the ethers... Wavespan formed in early 2003 as the shared creative vision of Phil Garrison and Alex Lumb. Their self-titled debut album was mastered by noted ambient musician Robert Rich, and released in 2006 on Monotonik. The release itself drew comparisons to The Orb, The KLF, Tangerine Dream, Pink Floyd, and the FAX record label, and was hailed as "one of the best ambient releases on any netlabel to date (milieu.alexyoung.org)." Several months after their debut release, Lumb left California for Boston, leaving Garrison with complete creative control. Under Garrison's direction, Wavespan has released a steady stream of singles, remixes, and full-length albums on some of the most respected netlabels in operation.
