About WöökOne vs. Missingno.
WöökOne vs. Missingno. is a geeksta/nerdcore/general midicore group founded in Sydney, Australia by Tom Gilmore and Alex Tullet, originally as two separate artists in late 2006. The story goes that Tom was dared by friend Josh Gibbs (later Elfangor’s Secret) of Six Thinking Hats to record an album of songs written with general MIDI backing tracks, after Tom played Josh a tape of songs about dinosaurs he had listened to has a child, “The Dinosaur Album” by Brian Dullaghan & The Funky Fossil Band. That night he began work on his first song with the idea in mind to theme it. That night began the history of the famous Star Wars rapper, Wookie One – later changed to WöökOne, an addopted misspell. Later that evening, friend Alex Tulett of super FLORENCE jam arrived at Tom’s house and was caught in the moment. Missingno.’s tracks were recorded with a similar theme, Pokémon. His virtually improvised lyrics were recorded by Tom, over quickly created general MIDI files made by the pair. The split was put out that evening. The days after this release, they decided they would become a group, as opposed to being two separate artists as they had been on the original Split EP. Later the group collaberated with Josh, as Elfangor’s Secret aka Elfangor, on the That WöökOne vs. Missingno EP with Elfangor! EP. (This release is generally tagged as WöökOne vs. Missingno. feat. Elfangor) Finally, the duo spead their wings and focussed on their other respective musical projects before the completion of their planned double album Telf Sitled. Some of the tracks from this release were put up for streaming on their myspace in 2007, and others have leaked onto the internet. Since the disbandment, Tom went on to start his Ten Thousand Free Men & Their Families project. The group still state that they are together, but doubts have surfaced umongst their fanbase if the general midicore group will ever continue with their albums production.
