About Vufcup
Vufcup is an American grunge folk punk experimental band originally conceived May 14,1992 in Santa Clarita, California, by multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Diggy Kat. After spending years writing and performing, Diggy Kat was added as bassist and co-vocalist/songwriter for the band Wasted Days, from 2007 to 2008. He also served the same role in the 2008 band The Atomic Squirrels. This eventually led to co-founding The Mercury-Mars Unit from 2009 to 2011, which included future Vufcup members Bianx and Leah Engel. After a permanent hiatus, he was asked to become a radio host on RadioBuzzD, being promoted six months later to station manager, a position he held for three years until he left in 2014. In 2011, he was also asked to join as percussionist for Odaal, a role he served for nine months until their breakup in 2012. A month later, he was asked to join 210toLowell as bassist and backing vocalist. During his year tenure with the band, they headlined The Viper Room, The Whisky A Go Go, The House of Blues Foundation Room and participated in the 2012 Sunset Strip Music Festival. He won Best Radio Disc Jockey award in 2013 which was hosted by The Artists in Music Awards. In 2014, Diggy Kat co-founded Lucky Star Radio and later hosted on several stations worldwide. In 2016, Vufcup released the single "Andrew and the Sky" featuring guest vocals by Melanie McGuirk and harmonies by Kayla Ludy, as well as bassist Leah Engel, now being a member. Bianx joined as an official member in 2017 and Vufcup released of their full-length punk album "Energy", featuring drummer Erik Zuniga. The album spawned 5 music videos, as well as 10 b-sides. In 2018, Kayla Ludy joined as a member and Vufcup released 2 split EPs, one with Gravehuffer and the other with Torok, and an experimental EP entitled "Views from the Hexagon". In 2020, Diggy Kat headed the formation of what was to be The Stream Team, a collection of musicians who primarily consists of himself and Bianx, Kayla Ludy, Melanie McGuirk, Ted Russell Kamp, Rorie Kelly, Aila Fay, Ariel Carreno and Lucky Lamond. Diggy Kat released a solo EP entitled "Blind" in October 2020. In 2021, Vufcup released "Steps to the Octagon" which featured The Stream Team, Leah Engel and Wanda Perkins from The Meer. "Scenes From an Awakening Dream" was released as a music video. During this time, Diggy Kat co-produced and performed on Ariel Carreno's debut "Sticky Notes" and mixed 3 songs. He also produced, mixed and performed on 2022's "Times Three" EP by Aila Fay and "Carry Them All" full length concept album by Lucky Lamond, both of which featured several Stream Team members. After mixing three singles for Ariel Carreno's new band, The Viretta Saints, and producing and mixing Carreno's upcoming sophomore solo album "Half Grown", Vufcup and MYTJAMR Carol Gleaves collaborated on the stand-alone single "Snow" and as well as Vufcup releasing the full-length goth rock album "Secrets from the Box Desk", featuring drummer Jimmy Two Cats. Vufcup's latest album, "Caught In The Mental Vortex" was released on May 25,2025 and features guest appearances by Kayla Ludy, Aila Fay, Ariel Carreno, Lucky Lamond, Ted Russell Kamp, Sarah Lightman and Carl Arden Hines.
