About Vidar Lande

A Norwegian philosophy professor and violinist from East-Agder and Bygland, Norway. He learned how to play the hardingfele (Norwegian traditional violin) with his family when he was young, and started transcribing what he had learnt in the 1970s. In 1983, he published a book holding 400 transcriptions of traditional Bygland tunes. Won the 2004 Spellemann prize for folk music.
