About Vickie & The Van Dykes

Phyllis Siano is an American singer best known under her stage names Vickie & the Van Dykes, Vickie Lane, and later Vickie Diamond. In the mid-1960s she became involved with producer Tommy Falcone and his small New Jersey label Cleopatra Records, a short-lived imprint that specialized in local teen pop, garage, and novelty sounds. Under the name Vickie & the Van Dykes, she recorded tracks such as “Outcast” and “True Love,” blending girl-group harmonies with a raw, garage-pop edge. She also co-wrote and sung material for other Cleopatra studio groups, including The Shandillons (notably “Shoop De Hoop Twine”). Although much of her Cleopatra work never saw proper release at the time, these recordings later resurfaced on collector compilations like Teen Expo: The Cleopatra Label, giving her music a second life among fans of obscure 1960s pop and garage. After Cleopatra, Phyllis continued performing under the name Vickie Diamond, becoming known for her live appearances and karaoke performances, while balancing family life and other pursuits.
