Hailing from the gutters of New Haven, Connecticut, Vela Dare combines guitarist and vocalist Faysal Bibi's hella-licious riffs with prog drummer Charryse Redwood's unique clicks to produce a sound more that has been variously described as a 'bludgeon of metal', 'a subsonic cathartic groove', and a 'wet-bedding joy'. Vela Dare, pronounced 'wela da-ray', is taken from Ancient Latin, Charysse's mothertongue, and means 'set sail', referring to the band's obsession with the ocean.
