About United State of Mind
United State (not STATES) of Mind is a guitar-heavy new rock collaboration borne of a revolving group of classic rock musicians that had already been playing for decades with various bands in various related genres. They formed officially in the early 2000's and typically play in the Elkton/Chesapeake/Rising Sun, MD and Philadelphia, PA areas with local bands such as Ballyhoo. Their music ranges from the forlorn (Life Goes Bye) to the funky (I Don't Care) to melodic rock (Stay, C'mon, Stay), with a few punk-influenced tracks and comedic stylings thrown in for good measure. Ed Wells does the majority of the sound engineering and arrangement for the band at his home studio, and all members contribute songwriting. The band received some limited radio play in Maine and in parts of the UK. The members are currently as listed: Ed Wells - Guitar, Vocals, Keyboard Al Peteraf - Guitar, Vocals, Keyboard Mark Wells - Drums, Percussion Tim Brill - Bass, Vocals Chuck Heck - Guitar, Vocals Mike Mcguire - Keyboard, Vocals Pat Bush - Keyboard, Vocals ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- United State of Mind is a project created by Al Peteraf several years ago as a vehicle for his, and other friend's, original music. Over the period of it's existence there have been many lineup changes. During the early to mid 2000s an effort began to produce a polished, viable, product in the form of the CD "U". After it's release in early 2004 a round of high profile live events were performed to enthusiastic crowds, and the response was very warm. Eventually all the musicians in that incarnation moved on to other things, and the project sat for a bit. Now Al and Ed have been in the studio again working together to create the basis for the next chapter in the USM story... the new CD "Illusion and Enlightenment". This brand new CD is composed of 11 tracks reflecting personal subjects, some uplifting, some difficult, and even some humorous. As before there is big production quality with soaring vocals and harmonies, as well as intricate and elaborate instrumental backing. So, you pine for the days of Classic Rock? Remember turning on the radio and nearly every day hearing some new cool song from one of your favorite artists? The late 60's through the 70's were an incredible time for music. So much exploration and invention, and it seemed there was something for all tastes on the radio. While it's true that the music born in those days have a finite number, and you've probably heard them all a thousand times, what you might not know is that that type of music is still being written and recorded today! Be sure and check out "Illusion and Enlightenment"!
