Press Kit Don’t let Troy Brooks’ age deceive you. Though only 25 years old, he has been playing guitar over half of his life. Troy was born in 1985 in Walton, Kentucky. From an early age, Troy was surrounded by great music and amazing musicians. It was not uncommon to be sitting on the porch of the farm listening to his father and family friend, Dillard Anderson, picking guitars belting out some John Anderson, Merle Haggard, or even Sam Cook. In high school, Troy began taking guitar lessons from Dillard Anderson’s nephew, Scotty Anderson. Troy was a quick study, and began playing local coffee shops and events around Walton. Shortly after, Troy started his first band, Schawe. They became an instant hit with the area schools. After graduation, Troy knew that he wanted to play music professionally. He began a duo known as Gravity Hill with his best friend Mike Barzak, and quickly gained a loyal following around the northern Kentucky and Cincinnati area. Unfortunately, after a few years of playing local clubs and festivals, Mike decided it was his calling to join the Marines. Troy decided it was time to make the next step in his career, so he moved to Nashville in order to pursue his dream of becoming an artist, and do what he loves…PLAYING MUSIC! Troy considers Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton, Scotty Anderson, Dillard Anderson, Tommy Emmanuel, Jimmy Hendrix, Johnny Highland, and Brent Mason as some of his biggest influences. For the past two years, Troy has been performing on a weekly basis at various clubs in downtown Nashville. He has formed a band that many have said is one of the best in downtown today! Troy is a natural performer and brings raw energy and excitement to the stage. He loves to interact with the crowd and make them a part of the show. When he is not performing, Troy focuses on writing his own music.
