About Tricky Cris

With the release of his two Elektrolux 12”es Sound Surgery (1998) and Favourite Feeling (1999) Tricky Cris has set another distinctive mark in the timeless universe of Dub. Melting influences reaching from Roots and Dancehall Reggae to Drum & Bass and House into an explosive mixture of basslines, riddims, effects and vocals the Frankfurt/Germany based producer and DJ has created his very own definition of sound. His solo work released so far includes cooperations with Mighty Tolga, DJ Reverend (both Frankfurt), Mikey Romeo (UK), Jah Meek and General Force (both Jamaica). Tricky Cris took his first steps into the music business in the late Eighties, when he took up his guitar and went to Jamaica to see the place and meet the people, inspired by the impact of the island’s music on him. He stayed there for several months, living in the house of famous Reggae drummer Leroy Horsemouth Wallace, who took him to sessions into the legendary Aquarius Studios in Kingston.
