About Tomputer
We had some trouble placing Tom Petter’s musical origins (not to mention his origins in general, on which he replied something about arriving in Norway by submarine after his troubled birth in Uganda), but apparently he has been composing ever since a friend showed him Screamtracker (a now archaic music program based on typing in codes) in 1996. His musical record shows experiments with many different styles before he found his own niche in a blend of jazz and electronika, inspired perhaps by such diversities as Shpongle and Miles Davies. About the creative process, Tom Petter mentioned that his tracks often starts out as mental images on how he wants the end result to be like. He then turns to the computer with the intent of replicating this. Usually though, things get mixed up in the process, and the finished track might as well be a complete departure from the original idea.
