About Tom Fowler

Tom Fowler (born Thomas W. Fowler in Salt Lake City, Utah, on 10 June 1951; died 2 July 2024) was an American bass guitarist and musician remembered for playing with It's a Beautiful Day, Frank Zappa, The Mothers of Invention, Jean-Luc Ponty, Ray Charles, Steve Hackett, and many others. H started playing the violin at age 6, before picking up the upright bass, and finally electric bass at age 16. He had four brothers, including trombonist Bruce Fowler and trumpeter Walt Fowler. He recorded albums with Air Pocket, a band including his siblings among others, and as Tom Fowler Interface.
