Three Pea's In A Podd

About Three Pea's In A Podd

Three Peas in a Podd performed in southeast Michigan from 1968 until 1983. In its earlier incarnations (pre-album release), it was known as The Dan D Trio and The Wally K Combo. In its later years, it was sometimes known as Patchwork. Three Peas in a Podd were a trio consisting of longtime members Max Effort (formerly known as Walter J. Klejment a.k.a. "Wally") on vocals and Sanovox, Dick Wallace on vocals and drums, and Jerry Byville on cornet, trumpet, fluegelhorn and valve trombone. All three members of the band met while attending Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. The name on the album, "Three Pea's in a Podd," is actually in error. "Peas" should be plural, neither a contraction nor a possessive. The name was derived by a quote from an old Laurel and Hardy movie in which one tells the other as they prepare to share a bed for the night: "we'll be as comfy as two peas in a pod." The double "D" in the word "podd" was meant to exaggerate the consonant.
