About ThinSkin
THINSKIN – aka Simon Harvey – is a man on a mission to blend dance, electro and rock into an exciting mix. THINSKIN surfaced in late 2006, having been spotted by Eddy Temple-Morris of London based Radio XFM. After a smattering of support slots around London he got the opportunity to play at the 2007 Melt! electronica festival in Germany, securing favorable press from the Drowned In Sound online music magazine. He then pulled back from live work and focused on developing his sound further and in particular introducing vocals into his soundscapes. The maiden single "Strip Me Down" starts this new approach with vocals supplied by female singer “washhead”. To promote the track Simon collaborated with Video Director Chris VIncze discovered via Radar Music Videos to create a surreal Alice In Wonderland themed video with a burlesque twist supplied by dancer Cherry Shakewell. Simon is currently searching for a permanent singer to join him, at which point he will be looking to hit the live circuit once more. Simon lists a diverse range of influences from such luminaries as Unkle, Chemical Brothers, Ils, Massive Attack, Queen, The Prodigy, Evil 9, Jean Michel Jarre, Depeche Mode, Fluke, Adam Freeland, Eddy Temple-Morris (The Remix), Tears for Fears, Dire Straights, Orbital, Future Sound of London, Stephen Sondheim, LCD Sound System, Future Sound Of London,Coldplay, U2, John Williams, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Death In Vegas, Metallica, Rage Against The Machine , Peter Gabriel, Hybrid, BT, Crystal Method, NIN (Trent Reznor) and AC/DC.
