About TheFormacion
Origins: not the usual college rock band… THEFORMACION is a rock band from Buenos Aires, whose previous incarnation along 2010 was known as “Deformacion Leimbacher”, an idea conceived by a professor of a local university as an extracurricular activity to support an already ongoing charity project of the institution while strengthening the social bonds of the academic community. The proposal stated that “with the proper guidance of a group dynamics, an artistic project could facilitate the students an alternative method to experience the decision making processes inherent to real life projects”. The initial trial period included small venues gigs (+200 people) and an amorphous set list including covers ranging from Queen & Pink Floyd to movie songs in a show that could last more than two hours and a half. After redefining the musical orientation and setting more ambitious objectives for the medium term, it was clear the project demanded more commitment. The chemistry between the remaining members accepting the challenge brought the project to a complete new level and eventually gave birth to an autonomous rock band that is currently working on many compositions of its own members. In the making: …still not the usual rock band either While some of the shows planned for this year still include covers of great rock bands, it is now considered “a warm up” training routine in the fixed jam sessions chronogram on their way to their own material. The band will be giving different type of “open jam sessions” in Buenos Aires that include some downtown pubs, traditional social clubs, college festivals and even three shows at the “Manzana de las Luces - The oldest Buenos Aires theatre”, a small magical place that dates from 1661 ( ! ). The band was even confirmed for three nights (Aug, Sept, Nov) after a carefully selection supervised by a special committee since the place is a National Museum and NOT a place incorporated nor dedicated to the dynamic rock circuit of Buenos Aires . The 2011 tour includes a show dedicated to the British rock of the seventies: “BritRock70´s” (Queen, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Yes) including some self elaborated medleys. It will also include some shows dedicated specifically to Pink Floyd music and will gradually give way to the shows with themes of their own. At the same time the band will continue their weekly recording sessions and post production routine at the studio in order to finish their first conceptual work with composition contributions and vocal work from all members, a challenge intended to be released by the end of the year and presented in a very special event…but now you know how this guys react to challenges.
