http://www.sanda.ge Musical group “The Sanda” was founded in the beginning of 1993, in Tbilisi, Georgia. The group began its activity in soft rock and blues genre. After this, there appeared folk rock elements. On the whole, Britain folk surpluses in sounding, but there are Georgian folk elements in some compositions too. After year and the half of working, “The Sanda” had held its first solo concert at the “Railway-men Culture House”, Tbilisi, and then this group had several solo concerts on the various stages of the city. “The Sanda” was participant and one of organizers of festivals “The Hands” (Theatre “Khazbegi”) and “Margarita” (the Park of Vake) which had been held in 1996 in Tbilisi. The tour areas of “The SANDA” included the cities of West and East sides of Georgia, also seaside’s regions of Adjara. In 1997, a musical festival “Protect the Black Sea”, had been held in Batumi, where were invited a lot of guests from different countries and one of them was “The SANDA” as a Headliner. At the same year, in spring they were participants of the great rock concert at “The Park of Vake”, after that, the group stopped its musical activity because of financial problems. In 2006 “The SANDA” gathered together again, renew working and founded “SANDA Records” with its own money, where the musicians of this band could record their music. At the same year they had recorded album “RETURN” and began working on the other album. During this time new members had been added to the band, Vano Khimshiashvili (bass) and Zura Lanchava (guitar). In 2007, in June round the festival of “OZONI Gigz” they had held solo concert, where they performed two different styles, Celtic folk and Modern rock. In November they had taken part in “Tribute concert” dedicated to the memory of Irakli Charkviani (Georgian alternative musician). At the same year they had played” Live” in sound recording studio of the “RADIO UCNOBI”, which was on internet air. Also the group had taken part in the NEW YEAR”S rock concert, having been held in the street before Tbilisi Opera House. In 2008, in July “The SANDA” presented one more great musical evening of mixed sound, Celtic folk and Modern rock. In August, they had taken part with their solo program in the annual festival “ARTGENI”. Soon, the authorities of the program “M-code”, based on TV Company “Mze” were interested in this group and had cut three musical video on their songs:”Play the game”, “Two Virgins”, “Bluebell”. In 2009 “The SANDA” had taken part in new musical project of the “RUSTAVI 2” –“Listen to live”, where they had been in the first place of the chart by their hit “Play the game”. It is significant, that all “The SANDA”s concerts are regularly covered in media since 2007. Gradually, there appeared funk and art-rock’s elements in the group sound, which gives rise to another album. At the same time “The SANDA” had performed with its solo projects in such clubs as: “ETHNO 99”, “FLAT”, also in the “Theatre at ATONELI” (rock sound). The group successfully had passed the announced casting and had taken part in “Tbilisi Open Air/Alter Vision, which having been held by “Step Records” on 23-rd October, 2009. They had also taken part in different concerts having been held by “Promo Industries” such as: “Good Old 70’s”, solo concert at “Magti Club”, in 2010 New Year’s open concert, Charity concert at Tbilisi Rock Club. In 2010 March “The SANDA” s old dream, to play “UNPLUGGED” had come true at the “Theatre at Atoneli”. It’s significant, that they had been helped during this concert by the quintet “KIBATONO”, which was founded on the base of “SANDA Records” in 2009. Also this quintet often takes part in recording the albums of “The SANDA”. At the same time the band “The SANDA” is working on two different sounding albums. For 2010, the group members are: Natia Namgalauri (vocal, keyboard, English lyrics and song writer) Irakli Lomsadze (keyboard, song and Georgian lyrics writer) Soso (Josef) Sakvarelidze (vocal, guitar, bass, sound producer) Dima (Dimitri) Asaturovi (drums and percussion) Zura Lanchava (leader guitar) Vano Khimshiashvili (bass, sound producer) Art-Rock, Pop-Rock, Folk-Rock Group from Georgia, Active from 1993.
