About The Redaction

ARTIST'S BIO FROM www.theredaction.net/bio/ Everywhere you look, it's more of the same. The same self-serving political rhetoric, the same tales of mistrust and violence on the news, the same trivial hysteria over a hot new fad or gadget. Even when the same old stuff is dressed up in new clothing, its shallow face peers through. And music is not immune. The next new wave of pop music rises and falls, but it rarely moves differently than the wave before it. Turn on your radio, and you'll hear plenty of screaming and ranting. But when's the last time you heard rock music that really said something? The word "redaction" (re-dak-shun) describes a process of editing. It's not about inventing something out of nothing. It's about taking pieces that already exist and creatively bringing new meaning, new life, and new purpose out of them. The Redaction isn't making a brand new kind of rock music; the band is taking the power and the passion inherent in rock music and making it shine again. Rightly done, music can make you feel, make you think, and make you act. The Redaction puts its insightful perceptions and grounded convictions into an impassioned performance that both entertains and enlightens its audience. For the last year, this three-piece from Atlanta has been taking its music and its message as far as it can. The band released its first recording, Brand New Year, in early 2006. This six-song EP gives a first look into the driving guitars, powerful drumming, and compelling melodies that have come to define the band. Then The Redaction hit the road, wooing crowds and a developing fans all across the Southeast--from Missouri to Florida. In July, the band won a listener's choice contest on a top-40 radio station and had the chance to open for the first-ever Starfest music festival in Midtown Atlanta. While continuing to tour, the guys of The Redaction are currently working on their first full-length album, to be released in mid-2007.
