An indie-folk-pop group, Buffalo NY's the Old Sweethearts began in 2004 as a studio project. The summer of 2005 saw the release of "Arms of the Town". This record took the band from the drunken folk of "In Regards. . ." to a more dramatic, pop/rock feel. The album, like everything about the Old Sweethearts, resonates with a rusty optimism indiginous to their native Buffalo, NY. The city built for a million people, but home to only 300,000 and falling. "The Old Sweethearts are the rare type of band that are cool enough for indie nerds who pump Wilco and The Shins, and solid enough for no-attitude music lovers reared on Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen."
