About The Northwestern

The Northwestern were an indie-pop band formed around former Hope Of The States, Thee Dust Rackets and Troubles duo Sam and Simon. The line up consisted of: Sam Herlihy-Guitar/Vocals (Hope Of The States/Thee Dust Rackets/Troubles) Simon Jones-Drums (Hope Of The States/Thee Dust Rackets/Troubles) Francesco Menegat-Bass Jon Winter-Guitar (The Open) Ian McCullagh-Guitar Their first full tour is in May/June 2009 with a release date for their debut single, the AA side "Telephones"/"All The Ones" was released through Friends Vs. Records on 15th June 2009 on 7" vinyl. The full band released the Ghostrock EP in late 2009, supporting The Raveonettes on a tour, following which the other members left. After trying out other replacements, Herlihy and Jones decided to continue as a duo. After recording a lot of demos and extra material the band broke up in 2011. Collections of demos are occasionally available from the band's Bandcamp page.
