About The Morrisons
The Morrisons are from Torquay in Devon and were originally formed in 1986 by Phil and Ian who were both originally inspired to play guitar by the arrival of punk in the mid 70’s and both shared a love of 60’s music and decent tunes. Most of the original members of the band had previously played together in a band called Chapter 29 and other various locals bands. In 1987 John Peel played their debut flexi single Listen To Your Heart several times on his show. Following this exposure Johnny Dee gave away a limited run of 400 of the flexi's with his Brighton based music fanzine Especially Yellow and later that year they recorded the Storm EP for Brighton’s Playroom Discs. Live show's included sets with McCarthy and The Groove Farm. The band split in 1988 and somel of the band members continued with various music projects over the next few years. Spurred on by the 2003 inclusion of Listen To Your Heart on the Sound Of Leamington Spa compilation CD on Germany's Firestation Records the band re-formed with three of the original members Dave, Ian and Phil who were joined by drummer Guy and in 2004 Firestation Records also released the CD Songs From The South Of England which was a compilation of the bands demo's 1986 - 1988. The album Psycho Surfin’ was released in 2005 on The Golden Pathway label and featured 12 new Morrisons songs recorded during 2004. The album Electricar was released in 2007 featuring 15 new Morrisons songs recorded in 2006 along with Brighter Days a bootleg of demo's and live recordings from 1986 to 1988 both on The Golden Pathway label. Also released in 2007 the three track CD single Looking For Jeanie, which is available from US indie label Cloudberry Records. A steady flow of other tracks on various independent labels have followed and these can be found in more detail on the bands website www.freewebs.com/themorrisonsband. The band now bolstered by the arrival of percussionist and multi instrumentalist Adrian in late 2009 and Elaine on vocals in early 2010 continue to write, record and play live and have just released the “Rainy Day” CD EP on Pastime Records which received a Five Star award from Art Rocker Magazine (“Magically Delicious” – Ric Rawlins November 2011). An album of new songs is currently being recorded for release on Pastime Records in 2012.
