About The Less Dead
The Less Dead is an evolving musical project written and produced by Gareth Perkins with lush guitar work from the cosmically talented Chris Perkins. It is an emotional synthpop/synthwave project. A mix of vocal and instrumental music exploring love, loss and obsession. Gareth Perkins was born in Northampton, England, but has spent most of his life in Japan. He has played bass and guitar since childhood and originally wrote a lot of folk. In the mid 00s he became interested in synthwave after hearing the great album Heritage by Collages. He started writing and recording music as a form of self-help: he found that he could process a lot of things that he couldn't say out loud through music. That continues to be a strong motivator for him, but also knowing that it resonates with his listeners and they empathise has meaning for him.
