About The Existence of Harvey Lord
The Existence of Harvey Lord is an amorphous psych-folk group based around Lancaster, UK who play songs written and sung by Harvey Lord. Harvey's songs have a distinctive lyrical and vocal style, with psychedelic and often existential lyrics being delivered in a broad Kendal accent. Harvey is backed, along with his own guitar playing, by a range of instruments from banjo to flute to violin. This large number of instrumentalists in the band, rather than creating the bombastic, orchestral sound that one might expect, work to create delicate, intertwining lines of simple melody, creating full, shimmering soundscapes that still have space. The Existence has features musicians from several different projects including Wes Martin of The Low Countries, Moll Baxter, Jo Gillot, Mikey Kenney of Ottersgear, Cameron Crook and several members of Electric Free Time Machine, in which Harvey himself plays guitar and sings.
