About The Delta of Venus

The Delta Of Venus is record store employee/barista extraordinaire Kian Vaziri from Minneapolis, Mn. He records his lo-fi pop music in his apartment with electric guitars, keyboards, and bongos. His collection of demoes have been circulated in Minneapolis since the summer of 2008. He draws comparisons to Ariel Pink (both draw on melodies that deem to dig into a nostalgic memory of the listener) are superficial, rather regarding the process of recording, and not the style of the music or songwriting. Influences include the compositional subtleties of the classic American pre-war songwriters such as Hoagy Carmichael, Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, and Irving Berlin; sixties pop maestros Donovan, Bob Dylan, The Beach Boys, Marc Bolan, and The Beatles, as well as traditional folk, hot jazz, early rock n' roll, and international superstars Gilberto Gil, Lee Hazlewood, Serge Gainsbourg, Burt Bacharach, Jacques Dutronc, Os Mutantes as well as the brilliant Kevin Barnes of of Montreal. He currently considers nearly all of his recordings strictly as demoes, and plans to record an album "professionally" in summer 2010.
