About The Dan Emery Mystery Band

The Dan Emery Mystery Band was a spoken-work / antifolk / folk-rock / country-blues / melodic-noise band "based on the idea of expressing concerns of everyday life (love, student loans, rampant consumerism, French kissing, etc.) in a funny but revealing and thought provoking manner." It featured the charismatic vocalizing, songwriting, storytelling, and guitar of Idaho-born Dan Emery. Steve Espinola usually played piano and a melodic shortwave radio. A series of drummers and bass players joined, left, and sometimes rejoined throughout the band's existence from 1996 through its farewell in 2002.
