About The Andi and George Band
Andi and George are singer/songwriters that found each other in Canberra in May, 2006. They are happy souls who love to make music, dance, eat good food and encourage other musicians and performers to get involved. They have been playing together for over a year and are a regular and highly rated feature of the Canberra live music scene. Playing a mind blowing fusion of soul, funk, reggae, samba, folk, jazz, blues and rock, Andi and George are renowned for their colourful styles. Spontaneous gigs and high energy performances by all of the musicians make for an exciting set to get you up and dancing! Depending on the size of the gig, the numbers in the band can range from just Andi and George, to a massive line up of 15 people. Every performance is different- with around 100 songs in the old busking hat there'll always be something new to dance to - or chat about! Andi and George believe the most beautiful thing about Canberra (apart from the autumn leaves) are all the local musicians, environmental kids and hospitality staff- "they make Canberra a seriously good place- Love it". Andi and George can be found hanging out at the bootleg sessions at the Phoenix pub, partying Live at the Underground at Transit on a Thursday night or playing their unique brand of mind-blowing reggae, soul and funk at their headquarters- the Front Cafe in Lyneham. The Andi and George recorded their third album "The Andi and George Band" at Sam King's house in June 2007. This was their first big band release, featuring Matty Sykes on Drums, Chris Pound on Bass and Double Bass, Grahame Thompson on Cello, guitar and Ukelele, Elyane DeFontne on Violin, Sam King on Flute and a special guest appearance by Liena Lacey on Harp. The band's fourth release "Sun and Moon", released in June 2008, is an epic feast of music embracing the full range of sounds and moods that the Andi and George live sound has become renowned for. The release is a double album with two cds of twelve tracks, Sun and Moon. Moon is a collection of gorgeous chilled melodies and Sun is a party with funky dance tracks and big sounds.
