About The Slaughter Daughter
The Slaughter Daughter is the project of Celia Bernal, a Barcelona based singer-songwriter who is debuting her first album in 2022. Her haunting songs, produced by Samuel Escudero (Derobla) in The Bass Valley studios, explore a wide range of musical perspectives dyed in gloom, darkness and electronic infused compositions, from menacing post-metal sounds to subtle ambient folk approaches. Her lyric and conceptual universe pictures wretched inner landscapes of violence and pain, introducing a self experience that is acknowledge to be a collective one when as human beings we are continuously being pushed and pull in a society soaked in toxicity, biased and abusive ideologies, hostile environments that end up breaking people in order to take the best profit for a few. The narrative and intimate tone of her stories is complemented with the collaborations of local scene experienced musicians like Jaime Díaz-Otero (Obsidian Kingdom, Myrkur, Foscor, Kinsale) and Izaskun Barbarie, whose contributions help to set an aggressive yet appealing mood all along these tracks.
