About The Shimmys
So, you thought Faster Pussycat Kill Kill was just a movie? She-Devils On Wheels was just some fictitious filmic fantasy? And Barbarella was a character in a comic book, right? Wrong on all counts, sunshine - you just haven't met The Shimmys yet. These three hell-raising chicks from somewhere beyond the Valley of the Dolls will plug you into their boss-bitching, B-Grade rock'n'roll reality faster than you can say "This is my happening and it freaks me out!" Indeed, the man himself, Mr Z-Man Barzell was recently overheard boasting to one of his party freaks that he discovered the Shimmys when they were still members of notorious Melbourne motorbike gang, the Man-eating Hussies... Believe what you will, you can at least be sure of one thing: they'll raid your make-up cabinet the minute your back is turned. Described as trashier than Poison Ivy's lingerie collection and more primitive than Wilma Flintstone's hens' night, The Shimmys are the spiritual sisters of The Sonics, Nancy Sinatra, Billy Childish, the 5678s, the Shangri-las, the Pandoras, the Mummies and the Carrie Nations. They've played gigs with the likes of the Crusaders, Dom Mariani, the Lords of Gravity, the Holy Curse, Guitar Wolf and the Spazzys.... (Personnel) Babs Dior, drums: plucked from her jet-setting life as France's next Brigitte Bardot and favourite pin-up girl of the Parisian pop-art scene, to join the only group who could appreciate her extensive eyeliner collection and penchant for champagne cocktails. Kitty Deluxe Kitty Deluxe, bass: gave up her glamorous job as star go-go dancer at the legendary Pink Pussycat lounge for a higher cause: the only band where she could freely indulge her two main passions: back-combing her hair and drinking champagne cocktails. Suzy Watusi Suzy Watusi, guitar: turned down an offer to play Ridge's new love interest on the Bold and the Beautiful to be a in band where her fetish for fishnet tights was not only accepted but encouraged. Oh, and then there's that little champagne cocktail thing...
