About The Poppyheads

The Poppyheads were a short-lived indiepop group associated with Sarah Records. They only made two records - a flexidisc for Sarah co-founder Matt Haynes' Sha-La-La label entitled Postcard For Flossy EP (1987) and Cremation Town (1988) - the 6th Sarah 7". The group's lead singer Rob Young has forged a successful writing career and has written several music books on subjects such as Warp Records and Can. He is also notable as the former editor-in-chief of The Wire - a popular UK-based experimental music magazine.
