About The Made Up Tuesdays
The Made Up Tuesdays are a collective from Falmouth, Cornwall, UK. The core members are Matt Chapman, alternating between guitar, rhodes, drums and laptop. Mark Horrel, the bassist, also known for his classy playing in the Devon avante-garde grunge band Freak By Wire, deps on guitar and drums also. Lukas Drinkwater is the drummer with tendencies towards bass and guitar and synths. Will Wilson plays trumpet, Fender Rhodes, bass, drums and guitar. Graham Burt plays guitar and occasional Keys and Bass. Ben McGarr plays saxophone, flute and Keys. Mark Callaghan plays guitar as does Neil. Richard Crowe plays guitar and rhodes. Other guests have included Martin Webster on drums and Wayne Lampshire on Rhodes. The set is composed as they go, a studio is miked up and they play. The music is simply what happened at that moment. There's the occasional overdub, but The Made Up Tuesdays even ad-lib these. "There's no rehearsal, so there are no arguments. It just happens and that's what we record. Sometimes one of us has a feel for another instrument part and we put it down. One take. Then on to the next track." The result is a frank recording of pure musical exploration. Something we are rarely treated to in a world obsessed with the pursuit of 'perfection'.
