About The Kavanaghs

Eternal Sunday proudly presents the most surprising and unexpected band from the underground scene from Argentina: The Kavanaghs. The Kavanaghs' style is unique among Argentinean bands: their music is a wonderful mix of retro, 60's pop influences. In their songs you can hear echoes and harmonies of The Beatles, The Beach Boys, the first Bee Gees and even bands whose names sound obscure now (at least in South America) like Badfinger or Liverpool Express. These influences are not arbitrary or chosen as a pose: Tiago Galíndez, the composer, bass player and leader of the band, is a collector and connoisseur of the finest 60's pop music, and his band reflects his musical tastes. The Kavanaghs first release took place, as it should have, in England, when the label Matchbox Recordings included their song "All The Time" in the Big Indie Comeback Vol. 02 compilation. The fresh song with a catchy melody gained some attention: The Kavanaghs were contacted by some cool UK labels like Parlophone (with artists like The Beatles themselves in their roster, as well as Kylie Minogue, Pet Shop Boys, etc). This kind of attention is quite unusual for bands from Argentina outside the Latin market. The band was actively recording their first album so the meeting with the labels was delayed for some months. Recording their album at their own studio (Tiago is a music producer and studio owner) was not an excuse for not playing live. The Kavanaghs started to perform in their own home town, Rosario (Argentina's second biggest city after Buenos Aires), and attract quite a loyal audience of pop music lovers that grows with every show. The Kavanaghs started playing live in Buenos Aires as part of their deal with Eternal Sunday records. The songs from their debut album were signed to Eternal Sunday publishing, currently associated with Universal Music Publishing Group. A music video for the song "Cat In Town" is receiving local airplay. The band announced its English tour, that will take place between August and September. 2009. They will play at the mythical Cavern Club in Liverpool and at the A Perfect Day festival in London. The band was asked to compose and record the theme song for the festival, "Let Love Go All The Way (A Perfect Day)", written by Tiago. The CD is for sale at the best stores specialized in powerpop, among them Dreamscape, Not Lame and Kool Kat (USA) and Powerpop Academy (Japan) These are The Kavanaghs. Listen to them now before they conquer the world.
