About Farmer Boys

Farmer Boys are a heavy metal band from Stuttgart, Germany. They achieved their greatest commercial visibility with the release of their album "The World Is Ours" in 2000. Music videos for the singles "Here Comes the Pain" and "If You Ever Leave Me Standing" received regular airplay on German alternative music television channels such as VIVA Zwei. In later years, the band developed a cult following. The band’s musical style has been described as a combination of groove metal and gothic metal influences. Their early lyrics often focused on dark themes related to agriculture, including animal suffering, suicide, and slaughterhouses, with songs such as "Farm Sweet Farm," "When a Chicken Cries for Love," "Relieve the Tension," and "When Pigs Fly." Later releases moved away from this subject matter. Vocalist Matthias Sayer contributed guest vocals to Apocalyptica’s single "Hope Vol. 2." After the release of "The Other Side," the band held a reunion concert in Stuttgart on December 22, 2004. Apart from an appearance at the Summer Breeze Open Air festival in Dinkelsbühl, Germany, on August 20, 2011, the band remained largely inactive for several years. In late 2016, guitarist Alexander Scholpp announced the band’s return, including plans for several live performances in Germany in spring 2017 and work on a new album. Farmer Boys released their fifth studio album, "Born Again," on November 2, 2018.
