About The Essential Ether

The Essential Ether from Bergen, Norway, originally saw the light of day in 2009. Combining the influence of the vintage shoegazing sounds of the late 1980s and early 1990s with more recent shoegazy bands and artists, they carry the torch for hummable tunes in at times beautifully fragile and at times astonishingly noisy environments. While the band is definitely shoegaze, they do not shy away from letting themselves nod towards post-rock, post-punk, 60s psychedelia, 80s goth, 90s britpop, the odd nod towards grunge, and also the energetic sounds of more recent bands that are genuinely indie.
