The Dik Van Dykes

About The Dik Van Dykes

The Dik Van Dykes were a comedic three-chord garage punk band from Hamilton, Ontario that existed in the mid-to-late 1980s. As one might suspect from a band that billed themselves as "Hamilton's ambassadors of tackiness to the world," their lyrics were humorous and often featured Hamilton area or Canadian references (e.g. Dundurn Castle, the Beachcombers, etc.). They put out two albums on the Og label from Montreal: 1987's "Nobody Likes the Dik Van Dykes" and 1989's "Waste Mor Vinyl". They also released a cassette entitled "Live At The Gown & Gavel" and appeared on several compilations including Og's excellent "It Came From Canada" albums. They broke up in 1989 during their "Waste Mor Gas" tour in support of their second album.
