First formed in 2003 as PseudoCephalic with core members Jonathan Pelcher (vocals, guitars, programming) and Matthew Metzler (synth, percussions, programming), the project gained some momentum and popularity among the members' peers. The product was rough, but a potential for something exciting lay beneath these first experimental tracks. After 4 years of online success on such sites as MySpace and the release of their self-produced album "Industrial Death Pop, Disc One", Jon and Matt went on a brief hiatus before revamping and revitalizing their sound under the name The Berated in 2009. Jon comes from an eclectic background of Metal (Slayer, Cannibal Corpse) and Old School Gangsta Rap (NWA, Dr. Dre). Matt comes from a background of 80's Rock (Guns N Roses, Megadeth) and Industrial (Skinny Puppy, Nine Inch Nails). With their powers combined, they make an incomparable sound. Jon supplies the group with his multiple talents of assaulting lead vocals, chunky guitar riffs, and in most cases a majority of each song's initial composition. Matt refines and simplifies (sometimes complicating) every song, lays out the majority of the group's massive percussion tracks, as well as mixing the final cuts. In most cases, a song will be recorded, mixed and completed within a 4 hour period. To date, The Berated have recorded over 200 songs.
