About Telurica
Telurica is the experimental electronica project of IngerAlb, bass guitarist of Magica & Inger de Fier, started in 2003. The idea behind this band was to create a dark, unusual & depressive music, by mixing ambiental keyboards with industrial sounds and noise elements. The 1st album (finished in just one week), entitled "Anthems of Desolation" was released in January 2003. It was a selfproduced material and consisted of 9 songs trying to describe various human feelings of a visceral nature. No conventional instruments were used, only computer generated sounds. The 2nd Telurica album, entitled "The Calling of the Battlehorn", in spite of being recorded shortly after the debut album (March/April 2003), is a proof of Telurica's rapid musical evolution: the songs were composed on a symphonic base enriched by ambient keyboards, all completed with percussion and bass guitar parts. The album was conceptual and consisted of 8 songs, each being a chapter of a short story written by Roxana Turcanu. "The Calling of the Battlehorn" was released on July the 7th 2004. In october 2004 Telurica signed a 2 albums deal with Trinity Records Hong Kong. Trinity was supposed to release worldwide both "Anthems of Desolation" and "The Calling of the Battlehorn" albums in digi cd format. These versions were to include extended bonus tracks (3 brand new songs for the 1st album, and a 5 song EP - previously unreleased, entitled "Trees Keep Growing", for the 2nd album), as well as completely redesigned artwork for the 1st album. However, up to this day, Trinity Records failed to keep its part of the deal: total lack of communication (in spite of the label having more than one contact emails), absurd motivations for constantly postponing the release date. Needless to say, this was a major setback for Telurica, since because of all this, "The Calling of the Battlehorn" was not promoted as it should have been (according to the contract Trinity received worldwide exclusive rights and even Telurica itself was not allowed to promote the album anymore), and also the "Trees Keep Growing" EP was not released (it was supposed to be released as a limited mini cd edition), and also some other record deals were declined. For Telurica was only one way to get over all this: keep going. Therefore, in December 2004/January 2005 IngerAlb recorded the 3rd Telurica album, entitled "Discordant Harmony". This album sums up 8 new songs and the musical direction is this time urban electro. The music is very rhythmic, mixing electro synth lines with tribal percussions, all wrapped in a dark atmosphere - a Telurica trademark. "Discordant Harmony" may be considered a musical equivalent of an urban meditation. In December 2006 Telurica made available to the public via Internet an EP called "Trees Keep Growing", recorded in 2004. This is the "missing link" in Telurica's musical evolution from "The Calling of the Battlehorn" to "Discordant Harmony". It features five new songs and "Letter to Roxanne" is dedicated to IngerAlb's wife, Roxana. It's probably the most peaceful sounding Telurica record to date...and should not be considered as revealing for Telurica's new musical direction - rest assured, the future will bring more "violent" tunes.
