About Teenage Filmstars
Teenage Filmstars are an English, post punk, independent, psychedelic 1980s-90s band, formed in 1979 by Edward Ball, Daniel Treacy and Joseph Foster. The band segued into The Times in 1980, re-appearing on Creation Records under the old name in 1992, this time as a shoegaze outfit. During both spells of the band's existence, Teenage Filmstars demonstrated Ball's musical ability to mimic contemporary pop music at will: ska and electropop in 1979 and 1980, britrock and nineties psychedelia in the 1990s. In 1979 and 1980 the band name was often spelled as Teenage Film Stars, sometimes The Teenage Film Stars, but Teenage Filmstars has become the most commonly used spelling.
