Vocalist - harmonica player Ted Roddy is a roadhouse renaissance man...working the fine sometimes treacherous line where honky tonk country, backwater blues, rockabilly and funky southern soul collide. .His harmonica work is featured on recordings by artists from Dave Alvin to Augie Meyers to Jello Biafra. As a band leader (Teddy & The Talltops and The Tearjoint Troubadors and currently with The Hit Kickers) he has played honky tonks, ballrooms, lounges, festivals and concert stages, touring the US, Europe and Scandinavia • He was a founding member of the 90's neo-lounge act; The Naughty Ones and part of the critically acclaimed Wandering Eyes cheatin' song recording project • He has been recorded on numerous compilations (Tributes to Buddy Holly, Sam the Sham, Buck Owens and Joe South) and has released several of his own on Hightone, Continental and Musicroom Records. • Over the years he has opened for everyone from Doctor Ross to John Lee Hooker to Johnny Bush to Hasil Adkins to James Brown to Count Basie. • He created the legendary Tribute to Elvis (backed by the 13-piece King Conjure Orchestra) at Austin's Continental Club that has played to sell-out crowds twice a year for two decades. • In 2000 he was inducted into the Austin Chronicle Texas Music Hall and in 2009 he was honored in Corpus Christi with a star on the South Texas Walk of Fame.
