About Taylor Diaz

The little big moments, often fortuitous and sometimes deliberately sought after, mark the future of people, especially those whose tenacity and determination are unwavering. And if we add a good dose of talent and perseverance, the results are obvious, but in this case, the results are audible. A young student of Advertising and Public Relations jumps to fame within urban music, with a great influence of salsa, romantic music and Anglo-Saxon rhythms; reason why, today, Taylor Díaz is a reference of this genre at a national level. Edmundo Federico Taylor Díaz was born in Poza Rica de Hidalgo, in the north of Veracruz, in a home where he grew up listening to boleros, salsa and Cuban music, but also funk, rhythm and blues and hip hop; at the same time he was instilled with the love for his land and the value of daily work. The similarities between the port of Veracruz, Puerto Rico, Cuba and other Caribbean countries, together with the romanticism of Agustín Lara, nurtured Taylor musically from an early age, which is reflected in his style and, above all, in his lyrics. At the age of 16, he composed his first song in the studio of two reggaetoneros from Veracruz in the early 2000s. And it is from that moment on that, little by little, he began to create different songs. Studying at the Faculty of Administrative and Social Sciences of the Universidad Veracruzana - the FCAS - in the city of Xalapa, Taylor nourished himself with academic knowledge and experience. However, during an event attended by a lecturer from the music industry, he seeks the possibility to personally deliver his musical proposal to him, later becoming his representative. It was the turning point for this young student who aspired to be a music star, as he began his rising career in urban pop, although he had already been searching for opportunities for several years. "Romeo" was the first hit that connected with the public, reaching 20 million organic reproductions, certifying it as a platinum record and being played in bars and discos in the southeast of Mexico, first, and then throughout the country. Thanks to his talent as a composer, in 2019 he co-wrote the song "Sodio" for the former pop singer Danna Paola. In addition to his lyrical ability, the pozaricence seeks to bring experiences and deeper situations, a plus to his audience, perhaps moving away from the cliché of urban music and its misogynistic, banal and empty lyrics. From September 2018 to the end of 2019, she played approximately 80 shows. In March 2020 she was part of the Cumbre Tajín festival and, after the cancellation of the show due to the global pandemic of Covid 19, Taylor announced that she was not going to leave without playing, organising a four-song set from her hotel room that was shared live that same night. On 29 September of that same year, Taylor Díaz released his first album called Neutro, accompanied by the single "Maíz", which features a Mayan version called "IXI'IM". This material features featurings or collaborations with artists such as La Mala Rodriguez, Ovy on the Drums, Sharlene and rapper Akapellah. Neutro shows the singer-songwriter from Veracruz proud of his roots and love in its different facets. His latest single, "El Rey (6 am)", was released on 20 April 2021 and has already become a classic for his fans. Taylor Díaz is a talented Veracruz native who does not lose his ground and is aware of the responsibility it means to be an artist and, above all, to represent his homeland through his music.
