About Taiga Blues
Initially a bedroom side project for Glasgow-based guitarist Carsten Mandt to explore musical interests in post rock and electronica, Taiga Blues grew steadily to become his main musical focus and in 2006, he teamed up with guitarist/trumpet player Michael Gallagher. Over a number of releases on netlabels, such as Wise Owl Records and Bad Panda Records, the duo have developed the band's distinct sound - a blend of electronic and live instrumentation that combines elements from post, jazz, kraut and classic rock into deceptively simple yet multi-layered, evocative music.
