Surayyo Qosimova (also spelled Surayo Kosimova or Suraya Kasimova, Tajik: Сурайё Қосимова) is a singer from Tajikistan. She has been designated as an Honored Artist of Tajikistan (1980) and a People's Actor of Tajikistan (1994). Surayyo was born on April 22, 1957 in the city of Kulob, Tajikistan. She is from a family that enjoys singing and dancing; her sister is Sadbarg Kosimova, a dancer and actress of Tajikistan. Surayyo is the mother of 4 children, including the singers Shabnam Surayo and Farzona Khurshed. Since 1970, she has been working in the Saydali Valizoda Musical Comedy Theater of Kulob, and since 2004 she has been the head of the "Falak" ensemble under the Department of Culture of Khatlon region. She was the Laureate of the republican competition of Hafizon (1979). She has made trips to a number of foreign countries, such as Afghanistan, Iran, Yemen, Pakistan, and Mongolia to perform internationally. Surayyo mostly sings folk songs, badeha, and traditional songs. Her rendition of the songs: "Come to me" by Rudaki with music by A. Odinaev, "Bakhtnama mo" by M. Haydarsha and music by M. Mirov, “Vatan" by H. Ghayib with music by Davlatmand Kholov, "Medonam" by M. Hakimova and music by J. Obidpour, "Seeing You" poem by Hafiz with music by T. Yunusov, has become popular among the people. Surayyo also played a role in a number of plays: as Mother in "Karim Devona" by T. Akhmadkhanov, Maryam in "Prize" by N. Yenisenko, Humayro in "Khusrav and Shirin" by M. Tursunzoda and A. Dehoti, Giatsinta in "Scape's Tricks" by J. Moler, Sokina in "The Adventure of the Exam" by A. Atobaev, and others.
