About Supercuts
Supercuts has their genesis in a number of different bands based in Glasgow. Each member has played together for a number of years in various other bands, such as The Partick Monkeys, The Feudal System and New Girls. Beginning life in early 2018 as an experiment to play instruments the band members had little or no experience in playing, the result is a volatile, experimental and melodic exploration in Alternative Rock aesthetics, Indie Pop melodies, Post Punk sensibilities and Acid Jazz undertones. The band consist of Scott James McRae, drummer by trade, singer and guitarist in Supercuts, Ruaraidh Dumbreck, Physicist, keyboardist, guitarist and singer, Lisa Hill, multilingual guitarist and songwriter, Neil Mcfarlane, jazz saxophonist, jazz cat, jazz bassist, jazz theorist, and Arion Xenos, everything else. Songwriter Scott McRae writes lyrics that deal with socio-political issues often in a stream of consciousness delivery in the vein of lyricists such as Thom Yorke and Damon Albarn. Contrasted with the styles of Lisa Hill and Ruaraidh Dumbreck who both often use personal experiences as inspiration for lyrical material. This, paired with the turbulent inter-rhythm-section relationship between Arion Xenos and Neil Mcfarlane makes for a unique listening experience.
