About SUPER BEAVER

SUPER BEAVER is a japanese rock band from Tokyo formed in 2005. Members: Vocals: 渋谷龍太 (Shibuya Ryuta) Bass: 上杉研太 (Uesugi Kenta) Guitar: 柳沢亮太 (Yanagisawa Ryota) Drums: 藤原広明 (Fujiwara Hiroaki) Biography: SUPER BEAVER is a Japanese rock band formed on April 1, 2005, in Tokyo by vocalist 渋谷龍太, guitarist 柳沢亮太, bassist 上杉研太, and drummer 藤原広明. The members met as upper- and lowerclassmen in high school, with Fujiwara also being a childhood friend of Yanagisawa. The band’s name originated from a casual suggestion to use an animal name; “beaver” was chosen, and “super” was added simply for its sound, with no deeper meaning. Shortly after forming, the band began performing in the live house circuit around Shimokitazawa and Shibuya. Their early momentum was boosted by success at the TEENS’ MUSIC FESTIVAL, where they won the Audience Award in 2005 and went on to win both the Grand Prix and Audience Award in 2006. These early achievements helped establish their reputation as a powerful live act. In 2007, they held their first one-man show at Shimokitazawa CLUB251, which sold out, and expanded their performances across the Kanto region. That same year, they released their first indie mini album Nichijou, followed by Shinkei in 2008. The latter release led to their first nationwide tour, during which their live performances drew increasing attention; the final show at Shibuya O-WEST sold out, signaling their growing popularity. SUPER BEAVER made their major debut in 2009 with the single Shinkokyuu under EPIC Records Japan. The title track was selected as an ending theme for NARUTO -Shippuden-, while its B-side also tied into the broader Naruto franchise, marking a rare simultaneous anime tie-in. They continued their major-label activities with singles such as Futatsu no Tabiji and Shiawase, and released their first full-length album Koufuku Kidou later that year. Around this time, collaborative media projects further expanded their reach, including a campaign that surpassed one million streams. In 2010, the band toured extensively across Japan and released the mini album SUPER BEAVER. Their music also caught the attention of film producers, leading to the inclusion of an unreleased track in the movie Solanin. Despite this growing exposure, the band parted ways with both their label and management in 2011. Rather than slowing down, they intensified their independent activities, performing over 100 live shows in a single year and touring alongside bands such as BLUE ENCOUNT. In 2012, SUPER BEAVER established their own independent label, I×L×P× RECORDS, releasing music both at live venues and nationwide. Their second full album Mirai no Hajimekata marked a new phase of self-driven activity, supported by extensive touring. The following year, they released the mini album Sekai ga Me wo Samasu no Nara and continued to build their audience through relentless live performances. A major turning point came in 2013 with the launch of the indie rock label [NOiD], founded by a staff member of the live house Shibuya eggman. SUPER BEAVER became the label’s first signed act, and in 2014 they released their third full album 361°, the label’s first nationwide distribution release. Around this period, connections within the scene deepened; for example, guitarist 黒田隼之介 of sumika supported the band during a temporary hiatus by Yanagisawa. Their 2014 single Rashisa gained wider recognition after being used as the opening theme for the anime Barakamon. Momentum continued with the release of their fourth full album Aisuru in 2015, accompanied by a large-scale tour that saw numerous sold-out dates, including shows at major venues like Ebisu LIQUIDROOM and Akasaka BLITZ. In 2016, marking their 10th anniversary, the band released a series of consecutive singles and their fifth full album 27, which became their first release to break into the Oricon Top 10. The accompanying tour consisted of 27 shows, all of which sold out, reflecting their steadily growing fanbase. Their first live DVD also topped the Oricon music DVD charts, further highlighting their rising status. Between 2017 and 2018, SUPER BEAVER continued to expand both their audience and media presence. Vocalist 渋谷龍太 began hosting a radio program on All Night Nippon, while the band released the mini album Mannaka no Koto and multiple digital singles tied to television dramas. Their tours consistently sold out nationwide. A landmark moment came on April 30, 2018, when the band held their first solo concert at the Nippon Budokan, with tickets selling out immediately upon general release. Their sixth full album Kansei Zenya followed, achieving their highest sales to date, and they embarked on their first full-scale national one-man tour. From 2019 into early 2020, SUPER BEAVER continued touring extensively, culminating in their largest venue performance to date at the National Yoyogi Stadium First Gymnasium. In 2020, they announced their re-signing with Sony Music Records, marking a return to the major label system after nearly a decade of independent activity. They released new material including Highlight / Hitori de Ikiteitanaraba and adapted to the COVID-19 pandemic by holding livestream performances, including a notable show at Yokohama Arena. Their seventh full album I Love You was released in 2021, followed by Tokyo in 2022, both reinforcing their mainstream success. The band continued to perform large-scale arena tours, drawing tens of thousands of fans. In 2023, they contributed theme songs to the live-action film adaptations of Tokyo Revengers 2, further expanding their reach into popular culture. In 2024, they released the album Ongaku and embarked on their first outdoor tour. The following year marked their 20th anniversary, celebrated with large-scale live events, including performances at major arenas and their first-ever stadium shows at ZOZO Marine Stadium, drawing approximately 60,000 attendees over two days. Looking ahead, SUPER BEAVER continues to scale new heights. In 2026, they are scheduled to hold their largest arena tour to date, release a new album titled Jinsei, and premiere their first live documentary film. They are also set to embark on their first dome tour, marking yet another milestone in a career defined by persistence, independence, and an unwavering connection with their audience. Influence and legacy They are best known for their song "Shinkokyū" (深呼吸), which was used as the 9th ending theme for the fifth season of Naruto Shippuden, their song "Rashisa" (らしさ), which was used as an opening theme for Barakamon in 2014, and their song "Hitamuki" (ひたむき) for the sixth season of My Hero Academia in 2022. They were in charge of performing the theme songs for all three live-action adaptations of the Tokyo Revengers series. "Namae wo Yobu yo" (名前を呼ぶよ) for Tokyo Revengers (東京リベンジャーズ), "Gradation" (グラデーション) for Tokyo Revengers 2: Bloody Halloween - Destiny (東京リベンジャーズ2 血のハロウィン編 -運命-) and "Hakanakunai" (儚くない) for Tokyo Revengers 2: Bloody Halloween - Decisive Battle (東京リベンジャーズ2 血のハロウィン編 -決戦-). Their song "Ikigai" (生きがい) was written specifically for Fuji TV as a song to support athletes at the Milano Cortina 2026: Winter Olympics. As of January 22, 2026, the song's music video (MV) has reached 1 million views. They are affiliated with murffin discs’ label [NOiD] and are currently signed to Sony Records.
