About Sunside

Sunside is an American rock band formed in DFW in early 2010. Ranked one of the Top 5 Shoegaze Bands in America on ReverbNation, Sunside isn't just a group of guys that decided to record a rock album. The founding members, Zac Carrington and Mark Schlotterbeck, have been wanting it for decades. Hailing from Detroit and North Jersey, respectively, the guys were independently chasing big musical aspirations from early ages. While Zac was writing for and fronting bands throughout Michigan, Mark was writing and recording material in studios throughout New Jersey, Nashville and Los Angeles on a hunt for song placements. "All those years of big flops and small victories seemed to have set the stage for Sunside", explains Mark. "It allowed us to polish our crafts, while growing as musicians and individuals." It wasn't until 2010 that Zac and Mark first met, in brand new surroundings - Dallas/Fort Worth. Zac was hired to sing lead vocals on Mark's studio single, "Sacred World". After a brief rehearsal and a 1-day studio session, the guys decided to continue to collaborate. As each member brought the passion and lessons of previous years, the guys slowly watched a fresh new musical chemistry unfold. Soon after, they were beginning to lay the groundwork for what is now Sunside. 2010 and 2011 were spent writing, arranging, drafting in home studios, and finally, recording the debut LP with Producer, Bryan David. After numerous drafts, weeding through material and adding conceptual depth to soaring melodies, Sunside is set to release their debut LP, Forever Whenever, which has been described as pop-shoegaze and alternative power-pop, and already garnering great reviews internationally. "Much of our style comes from mutual and exclusive inspirations from the '80s and '90s, including but not limited to pop, new wave, post-punk, shoegaze, alternative and early emo", explains Zac. "Add to that a desire to be original, and you've got the early workings of Sunside."
