About Strop
Strop (The Ceiling) is a band from Prievidza, Slovakia. It was established around 1990/1991 and heavily influenced by punk rock, they recorded their first demo tape simply called "Bez názvu" (Untitled). In 1994, second demo is recorded uder the name "Pešiaci" (Footmen). Afterwards the personnel has changed, when Disident and Avidyá leaved, and the new line-up listed: Braňo Homola (guitar, vocals), Jozef Paulík (guitar and backing vocals), Michal Valach (drums), and Juraj Valach (bass). They had released two demos: "?", unofficialy also called "Otaznik" (something like Enquiry character :-) in 1997, and in 2000 a demo unofficialy called "Pavúk" (The Spider). The band experienced a tragedy, when in 8th of december 2000 the guitarist Jozef Paulík died. After almost a year, Strop is coming back with a new member and is recording demo "Prosím o odpustenie" (I beg for forgiveness) in 2002. In 2004 the tape "Mraky" (Clouds) is recorded with Marek Gazdík on drums, who stept into the breach for Michal Valach, who anounced short hiatus. In 2005 a compilation named "Strop & Zvonko G" was released and the band gets through sound changings. In the present, Strop is preparing new demo, which is announced to be released in late 2007.
