About Straying from Madness
Influenced by the likes of Killswitch Engage and Bullet for My Valentine, Straying from Madness is a metalcore band hailing from Mexico City. They aim for a more international sound, and thus all their lyrics are in English. Formed in 2013, they immediately locked themselves up in the studio to produce their first material, Shadowland, which is a concept album about a group of friends trying to survive a zombie apocalypse. Their first single's title, "Ground Pounder", is a slang term used in the Army for ground based forces. Shadowland is divided into two mini-albums, the first of which was produced by Juan Martín Macías, of Lola Club and Erik Canales of Allison. Erik's voice can be heard on their song "Shadowland". The singles "Ground Pounder" and "Deadkillers" pushed the band to the top 1 spot in the Mexico Metal Charts on the underground indie music site, Reverbnation, during 2013. The second mini-album, released in 2015 saw the departure of drummer Alan "Joe" Delgado due to his compromise with industrial act Tanus. Alexis Aguirre from ska-punk band Kurado took over drum duties. Shadowland Part 2 was produced by Steve Sopchak, responsible for metalcore act Ice Nine Kills' releases. This album also saw Straying from Madness' biggest collaboration to date in Spencer Charnas, lead singer for Ice Nine Kills, in their song "Vultures". The single from this mini-album was titled "The Hopeless" and the video was the first time the real members were seen, as opposed as the previous releases which featured illustrations of the members in comic-style. The band is currently on an indefinite hiatus due to Larz, Will, and Alexis concentrating on their hard rock act, Vice Grip. Current Line-Up: Ivan Lex: Vocals Larz Lander: Guitar, Synth, and backup Vocals. George: Lead Guitar and Backup Growls Will McCharles: Bass Guitar Alexis Aguirre: Drums Official facebook fanpage: https://www.facebook.com/strayingfrommadness?hc_location=stream Trivia: most of the members were part of the pop punk band, No! Valium. Talk about a heel-to-face turn!
