Steven grew up in Concord MA, At 10, he got his 1st electric guitar, played Beatles songs to his 5th grade class.By 12, he was the lead singer, rhythm guitar player in a band of teenagers.Doing songs by Cream, and Jimi Hendrix All through High School his successful hometown rock band called "Wilderness" won the Battle of the Bands A year after high school, studied at Berklee College of Music for the 12 week summer semester. Then in the middle of the fall semester, left Berklee college of Music to join his favorite local band at the time,Orchestra Luna. At age 21, he politely said no to MEATLOAF'S offer to tour, out of artistic devotion to ORCHESTRA LUNA-the project that Rick Berlin & Steven Perry turned into a Rock'n'roll theater phenomenon in Boston and and NYC. Orchestra Luna used to play CBGB's with THE TALKING HEADS, That band became LUNA, then BERLIN AIRLIFT. After the Handshake Records release of the Berlin Airlift debut, the company soon folded, leaving the band free to create their 6 song EP on their own indie label- LoTech Records. On it is a song called "Hunger Strikes" with one of Steven Paul Perry's signature guitar solos. One that Charles Laquidara on WBCN liked so much after playing the song, that rumor has it he played just the solo again. Is this another urban myth? A few years later, Perry began writing during the last band he had with Rick- RICK BERLIN-THE MOVIE. Why Can't I Change was a song of his that the band performed The audience response to this song would be the ultimate catalyst for leaving to form his own band. Until he auditioned in Nashville for the John Hiatt touring band. Got the gig, Toured the US and Canada, then New Zealand, & Australia. Appeared on the Tonite Show & David Letterman. After the Hiatt tours, Steven performed with TH & the Wreckage for 16 months, culminating in his recording tracks on Tom Hambridge's CD release: "Still Standing" Checkout the slide guitar on the song Cadillac. A few months after that CD was released, he did some long hours of recording w Tom Hambridge and Tom McDonald putting together a collection of Tom's songs in some new arrangements. This was for the purpose of presenting Tom's material in Nashville, where he would be moving to soon. Steven even predicted the success Tom would have if he was in Nashville, which came true. Unfortunately Steven's luck wasn't so good at that time being diagnosed with non Hodgekins Lymphoma. A very serious form of cancer, the same one that killed Jacki Onassis and King Hussein of Jordan. But it didn't kill him. He completed 6 months of chemotherapy, which worked. Over the next 10 years he fought 2 more cancers, yet kept on playing writing and recording. He built a recording studio at his house in Concord Mass, where some of the songs from the CD The Human Condition were produced. After the release of that CD in 2009, he decided to perform without a band for awhile playing solo acoustic gigs and forming an acoustic rock duo with guitarist Dave Rose. There are videos of some of these performances on his YouTube site http://www.youtube.com/SPPDreams as well as some guest appearances with the band Dirty Blond and with Bird Mancini
